# Clocking in and out with GPS: what's captured, and when > Clock in and out from your phone. Enmantle reads GPS at those two moments only — never in between — and that clock data is what feeds DODD EVV. This guide covers how to do it from your phone, exactly what location Enmantle captures and when, and how that data becomes your EVV record. If you've ever worried about being tracked while you work, read the GPS section — it's the most important part. *Video: Clock in, clock out, and what GPS captures* ## Clock in when you arrive When your shift is scheduled to start and you're at the client's home, clock in. 1. Open Enmantle and go to the `Time Clock` — the `Clock In / Out` tab. The `Start Your Shift` card asks you to "Select your location and clients to begin." 2. Choose your `Location *` and `Clients *`. The service type resolves automatically from the client, so there's no service dropdown. If your location has EVV set up, you'll also see an `EVV location` toggle — pick `Home` or `Community` to record where the visit happened. 3. If the app asks, allow location access. Before you submit you'll see `GPS location will be captured on submit`. 4. Tap the green `Clock In` button. On submit Enmantle captures a single point and the message changes to `GPS location captured`. If your phone can't get a fix, it shows `GPS unavailable — continuing without location` and lets you clock in anyway. 5. You're on the clock — the card switches to `Shift in Progress` and the timer starts. You can use the native iOS or Android app, or the web app. Use whichever you have. *Screenshot: The Time Clock's three tabs — Clock In/Out, History, and Change Requests.* ## What GPS captures — and when This is the part staff ask about most, so here's the plain truth: - Enmantle reads your location at **two moments only**: when you clock in, and when you clock out. - Each is a **single GPS point**, captured **on submit** — the instant you tap the button. - Between clock-in and clock-out, **nothing is read**. Your location is not checked while you work. Enmantle does **not** do continuous tracking and does **not** follow you in the background. There is no live trail of where you've been. The app doesn't need to stay open, and it isn't watching your movements during the shift. The two points simply confirm you were on site at the start and the end. > Two points. One when you clock in, one when you clock out. That's the entire location record for a shift — nothing in between. ## How this feeds DODD EVV Ohio requires Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) for many services. Enmantle is a **DODD-approved alternate EVV vendor**, which means your clock data is accepted as the EVV record — you don't log the visit twice in a separate system. Your clock-in and clock-out, with those two location points, are what feed EVV. Clock in and out accurately and the EVV side is handled for you. That's also why getting your times right matters: the clock is the source of record. ## The documentation prompt before you clock out When your shift ends, use the `End Your Shift` section of the same tab. 1. Add a `Clock-out note (optional)` if you need to. 2. Tap the red `Clock Out` button. 3. Allow location if asked — again, a single point, captured only now. Unless the service type needs no documentation, `Clock Out` first opens a summary dialog — `Submit your documentation now?` — before it finishes. A shift without a note is a billing and compliance gap, and it's far easier to write it now than to reconstruct it tomorrow. Finish the note, then clock out. ## If your times are wrong Forgot to clock in? Stayed late because the client needed you? Don't guess or leave it. Submit a time-entry change request with the correct times and a short reason — a manager reviews it, and every change is kept in an audit trail.
